28th Sitting of the Committee on the Judiciary, Public Administration and Local Self-Government

At the sitting held on 17 June, the Committee on the Judiciary, Public Administration and Local Self-Government reviewed the Anti-Corruption Agency 2012 Annual Activity Report, Report on the activities of public prosecutor’s offices on the suppression of crime and protection of constitutionality and legality in 2012 and the War Crimes Prosecutor’s Office 2012 Activity Report, as well as the Report on the implementation of the Law on Free Access to Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection Law in 2012.


The Anti-Corruption Agency 2012 Annual Activity Report was presented by the Agency Director, Tatjana Babic, the Report on the activities of public prosecutor’s offices on the suppression of crime and protection of constitutionality and legality in 2012 and the War Crimes Prosecutor’s Office 2012 Activity Report were presented by Deputy Republic Public Prosecutor Gordana Janicijevic, while the Deputy Commissioners for Free Access to Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection Stanojla Mandic and Aleksandar Resanovic presented the Report on the implementation of the Law on Free Access to Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection Law in 2012.
In the discussion, the Committee members deemed the submitted reports acceptable and comprehensive and proposed that the Committee vote on the conclusions and recommendations reached in the deliberations on said reports at one of the upcoming sittings.
The Committee went on to consider the Proposal of the Decision on the election of judges elected to judicial office for the first time, submitted to the National Assembly by the High Judicial Council. The Committee unanimously proposed that the National Assembly pass the decision under urgent procedure.
At the sitting, it was also decided that the Committee on the Judiciary, Public Administration and Local Self-Government and the Committee on Human and Minority Rights and Gender Equality should co-organise a public hearing on the 2012 Report of the National Mechanism for the Prevention of Torture. The public hearing will be held on 26 June 2013, International Day in Support of Torture Victims.
