27th Sitting of the Defence and Internal Affairs Committee

At the sitting held on 27 March, the Defence and Internal Affairs Committee considered the Bill on the Confirmation of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Government of the Republic of Lithuania on Cooperation in the Fight against Crime, submitted by the Government.

Maja Jestrovic of the Ministry of the Interior said that ratifying the Agreement would allow closer cooperation in the fight against crime with an EU member state.

The Bill amending and modifying the Law on Road Traffic Safety was presented by the submitter, MP Marija Obradovic. She said that the amendments are a response to the requests of a large number of farmers to extend the validity of the registration of agricultural vehicles and not have them expire on 3 April, but only if ownership changes hands or if the owner changes his/her address or any other data on the certificate. This would waive the obligatory registration for more than 493,000 owners of agricultural vehicles, while regular technical inspections would remain obligatory. The Bill also introduces engine number impressions as obligatory identification in addition to the chassis number impression.

The Committee members adopted both the bills.

The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairperson Marija Obradovic, and was attended by the following Committee members and deputy members: Sandra Bozic, Borisav Kovacevic, Stefana Miladinovic, Prof. Dr Zoran Dragisic, Dubravka Filipovski, Aleksandar Markovic and Milovan Drecun.
