27th Sitting of the Culture and Information Committee

At the sitting held on 26 October 2021, the members of the Culture and Information Committee reviewed the Ministry of Culture and Information Activity Information for the period May – July 2021.


The Activity Information was presented by Danijela Vanusic, Assistant Minister of Culture and Information, who informed the Committee members about the Ministry’s legislative and normative activities in said period.

She said that there had been a number of public debates on the Draft Law on Cultural Heritage and Draft Law on Preservation of Cultural and Historical Heritage of the Holy Monastery of Hilandar, also reminding the Committee members that on 20 May the National Assembly had passed the Bill on Renewal of Cultural-Historic Heritage and Development Incentives in Sremski Karlovci, which was followed by the establishment of a Committee for the Renewal and Development of Sremski Karlovci on 23 July tasked with monitoring the implementation of the Sremski Karlovci renewal and development programme.

The National Assembly had also passed, at the proposal of the Ministry of Culture and Information, the amendments and modifications to the Law on Foundation of the Museum of Genocide Victims.

The Assistant Minister went on to inform the Committee members about the Ministry’s project activities drawing attention to project “Serbian Castles” launched with the aim to protect the country’s cultural heritage.

Following a brief debate, the Committee proposed that the National Assembly accept the Ministry of Culture and Information Activity Information for the period May – July 2021.

The Committee members went on to rule on launching the procedure for the nomination of candidates for member of the Council of the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media nominated by universities accredited in the Republic of Serbia, as well as on launching the procedure for the nomination of candidates for member of the Council of the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media nominated by associations dealing with freedom of expression and the protection of children.

The Committee Chairperson informed the Committee members that the mandates of Council members Radoje Kujovic and Goran Petrovic, elected by National Assembly decision on 27 December 2017, expire on 27 December 2021 and 31 March 2022.

Consequently, the relevant service of the National Assembly is obliged to publish a public call six months before the Council member’s mandate is due to expire at the latest and, as stipulated, the relevant service of the National Assembly and relevant Committee of the National Assembly are obliged to conduct the procedure for candidate nomination for the election of member of the Council of the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media.

Pursuant to all of the above, the Culture and Information Committee unanimously decided to launch the procedure for the nomination of candidates for member of the Council of the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media nominated by universities accredited in the Republic of Serbia and associations dealing with freedom of expression and the protection of children.

As the Committee has decided to launch said procedure, the Committee members went on to formulate the text of the Public Call for the nomination of candidates for the election of member of the Council of the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media.

The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairperson Sandra Bozic, and attended by the following Committee members and deputy members: Zeljko Tomic, Bojan Torbica, Rozalia Okresz, Snezana Paunovic, Prof. Dr Marko Atlagic, Ivan Ribic, Ana Miljanic, Aleksandar Cotric, MA Jadranka Jovanovic, Milica Dacic, Nebojsa Bakarec and Ljubomir Maric.
