The Bill was presented by Sanja Putnik, Assistant Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government, who listed the innovations to be introduced by the amendments to the existing Law, such as improving the transparency of work, expanded circle of persons whose status as the authorities obliged to act according to the Law, the Commissioner's authority to issue a misdemeanour warrant against the person charged with failure to act if such a complaint against said person is ruled to be founded. The procedure for the election of the Commissioner has been improved and the Commissioner’s term of office has been limited to eight years with no option for re-election.

Following the presentation, the Committee unanimously accepted Bill amending and modifying the Law on Free Access to Information of Public Importance, in principle.

The Committee went on to selected a delegation to take part in the 66th plenary meeting of the Conference of Parliamentary Committees for Union Affairs of Parliaments of the European Union (COSAC), to be held under the auspices of the parliamentary dimension of Slovenia’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union on 29 and 30 November 2021, in videoconference format, as follows: Elvira Kovacs, Dusica Stojkovic and Nemanja Joksimovic.
