25th Sitting of the Committee on Constitutional and Legislative Issues

At the sitting held on 15 November, the Committee on Constitutional and Legislative Issues considered the Bill on the Confirmation of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Government of Hungary on Border Control in Road, Railway and Water Transport, included in the agenda for the Seventh Sitting of the Second Regular Session of the National Assembly in 2012.


The Committee deemed the Bill compliant with the Constitution and legal system of the Republic of Serbia.

The Committee also considered the Candidate Proposal for Member of the High Judicial Council from the Ranks of Faculty of Law Professors, submitted by the University of Belgrade - Faculty of Law and deemed the Proposal compliant with the legal system of the Republic of Serbia.

At the sitting, the Committee also considered the amendments to the Bill amending and modifying the Customs Law and deemed that, out of the seven amendments submitted by the MPs, five comply with the Constitution and legal system of the Republic of Serbia, while two amendments were rejected as incomplete.

The Committee answered the Constitutional Court of Serbia regarding the initiative to launch proceedings to estimate the constitutionality of article 102, paragraph 5 of the Law on Judges.

The Committee accepted the Information about holding a workshop on “The Parliament’s supervisory role and its role in the adoption of better regulations”, on 19 and 20 November 2012. The workshop is organised by the National Assembly’s Committee on Constitutional and Legislative Issues and OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights from Warsaw.

The sitting was chaired by MA Vladimir Cvijan, Committee Chairman.
