24th Sitting of the Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Committee
The Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Committee held a sitting held on 29 and 30 November in Cacak, with the support of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).
At the sitting, the members of the Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Committee discussed the EU and STO legislation regulating the growing and trade in GMOs, cooperation between the local self-governments and the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management on boosting livestock breeding, production of planting material in fruit-growing - legislation and addressing the current problems in agriculture (irrigation and hail protection), and initiatives of the executive.
The sitting was attended by Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Dragan Glamocic who stressed that there is no genetically modified food in Serbia and the authorities would not allow the growing and use of GMOs for human consumption in Serbia.
