22nd Sitting of the Environmental Protection Committee

At the sitting held on 22 December, the members of the Environmental Protection Committee reviewed and accepted the Bill on Soil Protection, in principle.


On the behalf of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection, the Bill was elaborated by acting assistant minister Slobodan Erdeljan. On the occasion, Erdeljan said that the chief reason the Bill should be passed lies in the need to regulate the issue of agricultural soil as a natural resource and improve the existing situation. The acting assistant minister said that the Bill is a step forward because it provides a comprehensive system of planning, management and use of soil, protection against pollution and degradation, as well as monitoring of soil condition and quality.

The sitting was attended by Committee members Dr Gordana Zoric, Gordana Topic, Momo Colakovic, Sonja Vlahovic, Gordana Comic, Dr Jezdimir Vucetic, Vlado Babic and Dusan Jankovic.

The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairman Dr Branislav Blazic.
