21st Sitting of the Foreign Affairs Committee

At the sitting held on 26 May, the Foreign Affairs Committee reviewed the Bill on the Confirmation of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany on Paid Employment of Family Members of Staff of Diplomatic or Consular Representative Offices, Bill on the Confirmation of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Government of the Republic of France on Paid Employment of Family Members of Staff of Official Representative Offices of the Two States, and the Bill on the Confirmation of the Agreement between the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Portugal on Employment of Family Members of Diplomatic or Consular Staff.


The Committee members accepted the proposal of Committee Chairman Prof. Dr Zarko Obradovic to complete a joint debate on all three of the bills.

The Committee Chairman said that the three bills concern typical agreements which allow for the reciprocal employment of family members of the two countries’ diplomatic staff. The objective is to preserve the family life of the staff by allowing their family members’ to be employed, which is turn means the revocation of certain diplomatic privileges.

Following a short debate the Committee members accepted the three bills by majority vote.

The Committee then proceeded to adopt one initiative for a visit and noted other realized contacts.

The Committee also set up a PFG with the Republic of South Africa, and, at the proposal of the Serbian Progressive Party Parliamentary Group, elected Dr Vladimir Orlic its chair.

The sitting was attended by the following Committee members and deputy members: Dusica Stojkovic, Prof. Dr Ljubisa Stojmirovic, Jovan Palalic, Milisav Petronijevic, Aleksandra Djurovic, Dr Milorad Mijatovic, Marija Obradovic, Ljiljana Malusic and Djordje Vukadinovic.

The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairman Prof. Dr Zarko Obradovic.
