21st Sitting of the Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Committee

At the sitting held on 13 November, the members of the Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Committee considered the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Activity Information for the third quarter of 2017.


The Information was presented by Zeljko Radosevic, State Secretary at the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management, Bojan Zivkovic, assistant head of the Directorate for Agrarian Payments, and Branislav Veljkovic of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Rural Development Sector.

State Secretary Zeljko Radosevic said that the Ministry’s Activity in the third quarter of 2017 was fruitful, while Bojan Zivkovic of the Directorate for Agrarian Payments said that the period was characterized by an operative conduct of the subsidy payment to agricultural producers. The Directorate had two challenges to face – 20 to 30% more subsidy applications and the work on meeting IPARD accreditation requirements. He said that for now the subsidies are paid regularly within the appropriate legislative framework, and the accreditation process is in the last stages. In the third quarter of 2017, 55,000 subsidy applications had been paid out i.e. over 12,500 billion RSD, said Zivkovic. Speaking of the activities of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Rural Development Sector Branislav Veljkovic said that everything is going according to plan and all the rulebooks for the implementation of IPARD had been adopted, especially those for measures one and three. He expects the competitions covering these measures to be called in December 2017 and that the national measure packages for agriculture would be ready.

Following a debate the Committee members accepted the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Activity Information for the third quarter of 2017 by majority vote.

The Committee members went on to decide that the Committee’s support service, in cooperation with interested MPs, should prepare a public hearing on the condition of the waters in Serbia, on which the Committee would rule at one of the coming sittings.

The Committee also decided that Committee member Mladen Lukic should be the new member of the Subcommittee for Monitoring the Agricultural Situation in the Marginal - Most Undeveloped Areas in the Republic of Serbia.

The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairman Marijan Risticevic.

The sitting was attended by the following Committee members and deputy members: Dr Zarko Bogatinovic, Zvonimir Djokic, Marjana Maras, Olivera Ognjanovic, Milija Miletic, Mladen Lukic, Zoltan Pek, Nada Lazic, Vladimir Djuric and Miroslav Aleksic.
