18th Sitting of the Security Services Control Committee

On 13 November 2013, the Defence and Internal Affairs Committee and the Security Services Control Committee held a joint sitting, closed to the public in line with the Decision of the Security Services Control Committee on the manner of holding a Committee sitting to discuss classified data and the proposal of seven Defence and Internal Affairs Committee members, submitted in line with the National Assembly Rules of Procedure.


At the both committees’ invitation, the sitting was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Interior, Security Information Agency, Military Security Agency and Military Intelligence Agency.
The members of the two committees were briefed by the representatives of the Ministry of Interior, Security Information Agency, Military Security Agency and Military Intelligence Agency on the activities of the extreme sports fan groups and extremist organisations on the territory of the Republic of Serbia.
In the course of the discussion the participants stressed that the problems caused by the negative actions of extreme sports fan groups and extremist organisations call for a concerted action of all the state structures, first and foremost the police, judiciary and prosecution, and that the Defence and Internal Affairs Committee and the Security Services Control Committee fully support all the state authorities in their activities on supressing, within their scope, the illegal and criminal activities of sports fan groups, especially in their preventive actions aimed at eliminating the causes of the negative social phenomena that had recently escalated.
The committee members said they hoped to be informed on the security services’ activities to address the issue, adding that they are ready to take active part, within their scope, by improving the normative framework, and lend full support to opposing the discussed security threats.
