17th Sitting of the Defence and Internal Affairs Committee

At the sitting held on 28 January, the Defence and Internal Affairs Committee discussed the Government’s proposal to give consent to the provisional application of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the United Nations securing resources to the United Nations Interim Forces in Lebanon (UNFIL), until its coming into force.

Presenting the Government’s proposal to give consent to the provisional application of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the United Nations securing resources to the United Nations Interim Forces in Lebanon (UNFIL), until its coming into force, Assistant Minister of Defence in charge of the Defence Policy Sector, Miroslav Jovanovic said that the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the United Nations would mean monthly payments by the UN for the engagement of 143 members of the defence system of the Republic of Serbia in the operation in Lebanon, which would in turn mean savings in the budget of the Republic of Serbia.
The Committee unanimously decided to grant consent to the Government to authorise the delegation of the Republic of Serbia for the provisional application of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the United Nations, until its coming into force.

The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairman Dusan Bajatovic.
