16th Sitting of the Committee on the Judiciary, Public Administration and Local Self-Government

At the sitting held on 13 June, the members of the Committee on the Judiciary, Public Administration and Local Self-Government discussed the candidate nomination for the election of Anti-Corruption Agency Board member submitted by the State Audit Institution; candidate nomination for the election of Anti-Corruption Agency Board member submitted by the Social and Economic Council of the Republic of Serbia, candidate nomination for the election of Anti-Corruption Agency Board member jointly submitted by the Ombudsman and the Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection; High Judicial Council 2016 Activity Report; 2016 Report on the public prosecutor’s offices’ activity on the suppression of criminality and protection of constitutionality and the State Prosecutors Council 2016 Activity Report.


The candidate proposal for the election of Anti-Corruption Agency Board member submitted by the State Audit Institution nominates Dr Jelena Stankovic, assistant lecturer at the Faculty of Economics, University of Nis.

The candidate proposal for the election of Anti-Corruption Agency Board member submitted by the Social and Economic Council of the Republic of Serbia nominates Ivan Kovacevic.

The candidate proposal for the election of Anti-Corruption Agency Board member jointly submitted by the Ombudsman and the Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection nominates Vida Petrovic Skero.

The Committee went on to note that the High Judicial Council 2016 Activity Report gives a comprehensive overview of the Council’s activities as stipulated by the Constitution and Law which define the High Judicial Council as an independent and autonomous body ensuring and guaranteeing the independence and autonomy of courts and judges.

The Committee also noted that the 2016 Report on the public prosecutor’s offices’ activity on the suppression of criminality and protection of constitutionality gives a comprehensive overview of the public prosecutor’s offices’ activities as stipulated by the Constitution and Law which define them as independent bodies which prosecute criminal and other offenders and protect constitutionality and legality.

Finally, the Committee noted that the State Prosecutors Council 2016 Activity Report gives a comprehensive overview of the Council’s activities as stipulated by the Constitution and Law which define the State Prosecutors Council as an autonomous body ensuring and guaranteeing the independence of public prosecutors and their deputies.

The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairman Petar Petrovic, and attended by the following Committee members and deputy members: Sreto Peric, Doc. Dr Mihailo Jokic, Dr Aleksandar Martinovic, Nedjo Jovanovic, Jovan Pavlovic, Aleksandra Majkic, Slavisa Bulatovic, Miletic Mihajlovic, Djordje Komlenski and Balint Pasztor.
