15th Sitting of the Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Committee

At the sitting held on 17 September, the members of the Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Committee considered the Bill on the Confirmation of the Veterinary Cooperation Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the decision to hold a joint sitting of the Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Committee and the Environmental Protection Committee outside of the National Assembly headquarters, the petitions and initiatives sent to the Committee and the decision to hold a public hearing with the title “Does Serbia need the raspberry?”.


The Bill on the Confirmation of the Veterinary Cooperation Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan was elaborated by the Director of the Veterinary Directorate, Slobodan Sibalic, who said that this was one in a series of veterinary agreements that Serbia had signed.

The Committee members adopted the Bill on the Confirmation of the Veterinary Cooperation Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan, by a majority of votes.

The Committee members went on to decide to hold the next sitting of the Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Committee outside of the National Assembly headquarters, in Subotica, on 24 September 2013, jointly with the Environmental Protection Committee.

Having reviewed the petitions and initiatives sent to the Committee, the Working Group decided to forward the petitions to the Water Directorate. The Committee members endorsed the Working Group’s decision by a majority of votes.

Following the short debate the Committee members conducted on the problems troubling the Raspberry Growers Association, the Committee decided to hold a public hearing with the title “Does Serbia need the raspberry?”, on 7 October 2013, starting at noon.

Under item “Other business” the Committee members asked Assistant Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Nenad Katanic about the Ministry’s talks with the sunflower producers, requesting additional information about the lease of state-owned agricultural land.

The sitting was chaired by the Committee Chairman, Aleksandar Senic.
