13th Sitting of the Committee on Human and Minority Rights and Gender Equality

At the sitting held on 2 April, the members of the Committee on Human and Minority Rights and Gender Equality reviewed the Gender Equality Directorate Activity Report for the period January – December 2012.


The representatives of the Gender Equality Directorate, Dr Natalija Micunovic and Dragan Knezevic, said that the Directorate organises conferences, projects, roundtables, is involved in various research, and one of its key goals is to strengthen the position of women in society. The Gender Equality Directorate will continue with its work on the economic empowerment of women, protection from violence, protection of groups who suffer multiple discrimination, on strengthening the role of women in the media, as well as on promoting the healthcare for women, added the Director of the Directorate, Dr Natalija Micunovic.

The Committee members unanimously accepted the Report, with the request that the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Policy submit data on the projects and the funds spent on them as soon as possible.

The Committee Chairman went on to present the activities planned for April 2013 to the Committee members, which include a Committee sitting, a roundtable on the efficiency of the cooperation between the Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection and the Committee, as well as a seminar organised by the Women’s Parliamentary Network.

The sitting was chaired by the Committee Chairman, Meho Omerovic.
