A joint session of the Committee on Defence and Security and the Committee on Inter-ethnic Relations was held in Subotica on 10 September 2004. The session was chaired by the chairman of the Committee on Defence and Security, Milorad Mircic.

The session discussed the security situation and the state of inter-ethnic relations in the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina.

The Committees concluded that the incidents reported in Vojvodina were isolated cases, and that their number and manner were not a threat to the situation in Serbia’s northern province. Therefore, the Committees agreed, there was no organised action in the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina aimed at violating ethnic minorities’ rights.

The session was attended by the Minister of the Interior, Dragan Jocic, the president of the Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians, Jozsef Kasza, the head of the Security and Information Agency, Rade Bulatovic, the Inspector General of the Ministry of the Interior, Vladimir Bozovic, as well as many other guests.
