11th Sitting of the Defence and Internal Affairs Committee

At the sitting held on 18 March 2025, the members of the Defence and Internal Affairs Committee were informed about the events concerning the protest held on 15 March 2025 in Belgrade, during which a "sonic cannon" was allegedly used.


The sitting began with a minute of silence for those killed in the fire in Kocani, North Macedonia.

The sitting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dacic and Minister of Defence Bratislav Gasic, and associates, who informed the Committee members about the item on the agenda.

Committee Chairman MA Milovan Drecun said that a preliminary investigation has been initiated regarding the events at the protest held on 15 March 2025, by the First Basic Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade, and asked the Minister of the Interior Ivica Dacic to inform the Committee in a manner that will not disrupt the aforementioned preliminary investigation.

Ivica Dacic stressed that the Ministry of the Interior does not possess any illegal devices, and that a device such as the "sonic cannon", have never been used in the Ministry of the Internal, nor have they been transferred to other bodies. He emphasised that the Ministry has not used any means that are not legal, nor any means the use of which would cause similar effects.

Bratislav Gasic pointed out that the Serbian Army was not engaged in ensuring security at the rally on 15 March 2025. He pointed out that no "sonic cannon" or similar devices were used, nor did the Ministry have any information that anyone had used a sonic cannon.

The Committee members requested information about what happened during the protest on 15 March 2025, noting that citizens sought medical help en masse, with the same symptoms. During the discussion, different opinions and positions were expressed about the events at the protest.

Following the discussion, the Committee reached a conclusion regarding the item on the agenda.

The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairman MA Milovan Drecun, and attended by the following Committee members and deputy members: Prof. Dr Zoran Dragisic, Goran Spasojevic, Dane Stanojcic, Tomislav Jankovic, Milos Gnjidic, Biljana Pantic Pilja, Dr Dusan Bajatovic, Marija Jevdjic, Dragan M. Markovic, Aleksandar Pavic, Djordjo Djordjic, Miroslav Aleksic, Slavica Radovanovic, Zdravko Ponos and Bogdan Radovanovic, as well as MP Marina Ragus, who is not a member of the Committee.
