The seminar was opened by the Women’s Parliamentary Network coordinator Stefana Miladinovic who greeted the women MPs present and briefly informed them about the work of the Women’s Parliamentary Network in the previous mandate. The participants of the seminar were also addressed by the OSCE Mission to Serbia Governance Adviser Karin Wagner and Nenad Bosiljcic, the Belgrade Fund for Political Excellence programme coordinator.
MPs Slavica Djukic Dejanovic, Marija Obradovic, Gordana Comic, Dubravka Filipovski, and the MPs from the previous legislature Tamara Tripic and Vesna Jovicki shared their political and parliamentary experience with the MPs serving their first term of office at the National Assembly.
The conclusion of the seminar was that the Women’s Parliamentary Network should continue working toward the goals set when it was established: “Passing new legislation and policies, monitoring the existing legislation, especially those dealing with women’s health and the family, suppressing violence against women, economic empowerment and education of women”.
The MPs also agreed that they should work toward stimulating women in Serbia to take more part in political and public life, raise awareness on women’s solidarity and promote women’s knowledge.
