The Parliament Speaker declared the Ukrainian delegation’s visit a great success so far. As many as six interstate treaties have been signed conducive to improving the cooperation in the spheres of agriculture, education, culture, tourism and infrastructure, said the Speaker sharing the Parliament’s readiness to ratify them. He said Serbia expected to be granted a start date for European Union talks in late June, stressing the Serbia’s dedication to develop relations with friendly countries.

Stefanovic said the National Assembly was ready to support the development of overall bilateral relations, especially interparliamentary cooperation between Serbia and Ukraine on all levels, declaring President Yanukovych’s visit a significant incentive for said cooperation. Stefanovic also thanked Ukraine for its support and principled position as regards the Republic of Serbia’s state sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The Ukrainian President underlined the importance of the first official visit of the President of Ukraine to Serbia in the history of bilateral relations and reminded that a Mixed Intergovernmental Commission was formed during the visit of the Ukrainian Prime Minister in 2011, tasked with tackling the specific steps of boosting economic cooperation.

As regards the Kosovo-Metohija issue, he said that supporting Serbia has become an element of the Ukrainian Government’s foreign policy.

He stressed that the business sector should be motivated by the excellent political and cultural relations to raise the level of cooperation to the both sides’ benefit. In that context, he spoke of the Ukrainian side’s interest in a series of investments into the Republic of Serbia. Yanukovych conveyed the invitation of the Speaker of the Ukrainian Supreme Rada to a delegation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia to come and visit Ukraine, and reminded of the two countries’ excellent cooperation in international organisations urging for its continuation and further development.
