Traditional May Awards Presented to Deserving Individuals, Sports Clubs and Federations

National Assembly Speaker Maja Gojkovic greeted the laureates stressing that investing into sports and the youth is investing into the future.


“It is a pleasure to be with those whose exceptional sports achievements best represent our country and who have made us proud to be Serbian on so many occasions “, said Speaker Gojkovic.
Reminding the assembly that May Awards can be won but once in one’s career, the President of the Sports Federation of Serbia Aleksandar Sostar thanked the athletes not only for the results they achieved, but also for their exemplary conduct which represents Serbia in the best way possible.
The winner of the bronze medal at the Moscow 2013 athletics world championship Emir Bekric thanked the assembly on the behalf of the winners saying that effort, patience and love for what one is doing always pay off. “Serbia is the land of sports and athletes are its best ambassadors”; said Bekric.
The winners of the May Awards presented by the Sports Federation of Serbia are as follows:
Olympic sports athletes: Ivana Spanovic (track and field), Emir Bekric (track and field), Andrea Lekic (volleyball), Ana Bajic (taekwondo)
Non-Olympic sports athletes: Gabor Stagmajster
Athletes with disabilities: Rastko Jokic
Sports experts: Dejan Savic, Mirjana Stojanovic, Goran Obradovic, Ljubinko Drulovic
Sports functionaries: Velimir Marjanovic, Strahinja Tepavcevic, Viktor Jelenic, Borislav Pelevic
Lifetime achievement awards: Milenko Cabarkapa, Miroslav Popovic, Slobodan Lazic, Radmilo Armenulic
Pedagogists: Sinisa Nestorovic and Dusan Mitic
Sports clubs: Red Star Water Polo Club
Sports associations: Sport for All Association of Vojvodina, Sports Association of Krusevac
Sports journalists: Dragoslav Visnjic and Ivan Radosevic
