Thirty-First Sitting of the Committee on Kosovo-Metohija

At the sitting held on 1 June the members of the Committee on Kosovo-Metohija were briefed on the current course of negotiations with the provisional institutions of self-government in Pristina.

Head of the Serbian Government’s Negotiating Team for dialogue with Pristina Borislav Stefanovic informed the Committee on the results of the negotiating process so far and his recent visit to Pristina. He restated that the Serbian Government stands united as regards the negotiations and that Belgrade’s negotiating positions should not be weakened. He stressed that, at present, the vital issues of the people living in the Province should be discussed and expressed hope that in the next round of negotiations in Brussels, in mid-July, some agreements about issues such as the freedom of movement, cadastre, birth and death registries and telecommunications will be concretized.

The Committee members asked Stefanovic numerous questions showing particular interest in his recent visit to Pristina. They supported the negotiating team’s efforts to come up with acceptable solutions.

The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairman Ljubomir Kragovic.
