Third Sitting of the Security Services Control Committee

At the sitting held on 27 January 2021 and closed to the public, the Security Services Control Committee considered and adopted the Military Intelligence Agency activity reports covering the period 1 October 2019 – 30 September 2020.


The members of the Committee gave a positive assessment of the reports of the Military Intelligence Agency, saying that they provide a comprehensive and complete insight into the Agency’s work and results achieved in the reporting period. In the reporting period, the Military Intelligence Agency performed all tasks within its competence in accordance with the applicable legal regulations in the interest of protecting the security of the Republic of Serbia and its citizens. It is the Committee’s opining that in the reporting period the Military Intelligence Agency reported on global and regional challenges, risks and threats in a timely manner and informed the competent actors about other phenomena important for the security of the Republic of Serbia.

The Committee members also fully support the further coordinated and harmonised work of the security services in terms of protection of national interests and implementation of the security and intelligence policy of the Republic of Serbia.

The Committee positively assessed the efforts of the Military Intelligence Agency to continuously improve bilateral and multilateral cooperation with partner services, even in the pandemic, leading to a more efficient verification of data and information and contributing to the reliability of assessments and strengthening of trust and cooperation between agencies and affirmation of the Republic of Serbia’s position in the fight against terrorism, organised crime and illegal migration.

In addition, recognizing the important role of defence attache offices as organizational units of the Military Intelligence Agency, the members of the Committee offered full unanimous support for the opening of new defence attache offices in accordance with the foreign policy interests of the Republic of Serbia.

The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairman MA Igor Becic, and attended by the following Committee members and deputy members: Aleksandar Markovic, Goran Pekarski, Slavisa Bulatovic, Milimir Vujadinovic, Vladan Zagradjanin, Borisav Kovacevic, Jasmina Obradovic and Dusko Tarbuk.
