Third Public Hearing on Amendments to Law on Unified Electoral Roll Held in Nis

The Committee on Constitutional and Legislative Issues held the third public hearing on the topic: "Presentation of the Draft Law amending and modifying the Law on the Unified Electoral Roll, prepared by the Working Group for the Improvement of the Electoral Process " in Nis today. The draft amendments to the law represent the implementation of the ODIHR recommendations presented by their mission in its report after observing the elections in the Republic of Serbia.


The public hearing was attended by MPs, both from the ruling majority and the opposition, councillors of the Nis City Assembly, representatives of the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government, representatives of Nis Police Department, as well as members of the OSCE Mission and the European Union Delegation to the Republic of Serbia.

Committee Chairperson Milica Nikolic thanked the attending who participated in the public hearing for their active contribution, stressing that their opinions and suggestions are of great value. She emphasised the importance of open dialogue and cooperation in the decision-making process, assessing that the Committee’s efforts contribute to the transparency and inclusiveness of the legislative improvement of the electoral process.

Let us remind you, the Chairman of the Working Group Nemanja Nenadic, from the NGO Transparency Serbia, had submitted to the Committee an act with two proposals for amendments to the Law on the Unified Electoral Roll, which received the largest number of votes at the Working Group session, but did not receive the majority needed for adoption. Their proposers are e Working Group members - Pavle Dimitrijevic, from the NGO Crta, and MP Ugljesa Mrdic.

Public hearings on the draft law amending and modifying the Law on the Unified Electoral Roll will continue in the coming period in different cities in Serbia.
