Third International Conference of the Parliamentary Committees on Legal Affairs
A delegation of the Committee on Constitutional and Legislative Issues took part in the Third International Conference of the Parliamentary Committees on Legal Affairs, held in Berlin on 1 and 2 July 2013.
The Chairman of the Committee on Constitutional and Legislative Issues, MA Vladimir Cvijan informed the participants of the Conference about the Committee’s duties in the legislative process, monitoring of the establishment of a unified legal system and the quality of legislative drafting.
The participants also discussed the legislative process, the right of legislative initiative, submission of amendments, assessment of the impact of laws in theory and practice and the impact of European law on national legislation and the functioning of national parliaments. They also discussed how the experience of the legal practice, including the judiciary and expert associations, is used in the process of legislative drafting.
The Third International Conference of the Parliamentary Committees on Legal Affairs is in fact a continuation of the dialogue on legislative policy commenced at the First Conference held in February 2011 in Belgrade. In the conclusions of the Conference the participants expressed readiness to continue with this type of cooperation among the parliamentary committees on legal affairs by organizing another conference of the parliamentary committees on legal affairs.
The Conference was attended by delegations of the parliamentary committees on legal affairs of European, Asian and North African countries.
