Talks with the Chairman of the Parlamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe
Chairperson of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Ms Natasa Micic, held talks today with Mr Peter Schider, Chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.
Ms Micic thanked her guest for the support given in fullfiling the conditions for the integration of our country in the community of European nations and added that this support clearly demonstated we were on the good way to recover from the decline our country had been suffering from for so many years. She emphasised that the National Assembly had so far adopted over 150 bills and legal acts which constituted a legal framework for the current changes and reforms.
The Chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly congratulated Ms Micic on the number of adopted laws and bills and stressed that, with the adoption of the Constitutional Charter, the last condition for the acceptance of our country into the Council of Europe would be met. He also added that, apart from the National Assembly's intensive work on these issues, our republic in general had approached the matter in a very constructive way.
