The President of the National Assembly, Natasa Micic, received a delegation of high-ranking guests from Great Britain, headed by Gavyn Arthur, Alderman of the City of London. The delegation paid a visit to Ms. Micic as part of an official visit to Serbia and Montenegro.

The guests expressed their satisfaction with the possibility of a larger volume of investment from Britain as a result of the increased legal security in Serbia, and acclaimed the measures taken in the battle against organised crime. The guests from London were especially interested in Serbian legislation concerning private property, which is very important for all investors.

Ms. Micic stressed that, notwithstanding its socialist past, our country had a highly developed tradition of respecting private property and entrepreneurship, adding that over 130 reform laws were adopted since 2001. According to her, of special interest to foreign investors is the package of financial laws that stimulate investments. The work of the new Supreme Defence Council - which has shown the resolve to undertake fundamental reforms and the transformation of our armed forces - received special commendation at the talks.
