Suzana Grubjesic Talks to OSCE Parliamentary Assembly President

Head of the Standing Delegation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia at the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, Suzana Grubjesic and delegation members met today at the National Assembly House with a delegation of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly headed by its President, Joao Soares.

The delegation also comprised Special Representative on South East Europe Roberto Battelli and Ambassador Andreas Nothelle.

President Soares noted Serbia’s progress in the development of democratic institutions, stressing that OSCE PA endorses Serbia’s accession to the European Union. He focused on the significance of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly’s role in constructing “new security architecture” in Europe which lends particular importance to the establishment of inter-parliamentary dialogue among its member states.

The talks also touched on the influence of the global economic crisis on the citizens’ growing distrust of public institutions and the need to find a way to regain the trust.

Head of the National Assembly Standing Delegation at the OSCE PA, Suzana Grubjesic emphasized the quality of Serbia’s cooperation with the international organization, adding that it supports its mission in Kosovo which operates within UNMIK under UN Resolution 1244.

She announced the participation of the Serbian delegation in the OSCE PA annual session at the end of June and beginning of July in Vilnius, Lithuania.

OSCE PA delegation is in a two-day visit to Serbia as part of its wider visit to the region. The visit aims to gain knowledge on the political situation in Serbia and the European integration process.
