Strengthening Cooperation at Parliamentary Level Key to Cooperation in All Other Areas
The PFG with Indonesia, headed by the MP Ljiljana Malusic, held a meeting today with an Indonesian delegation, with the central topic - deepening interparliamentary cooperation.
The head of the delegation and Vice Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives Mardani Sera thanked the hosts for the warm welcome, agreeing that parliamentary cooperation is key to deepening and establishing new types of cooperation. That is why he had brought members from various parliamentary committees - to expand and strengthen cooperation at the committee level. He was proudly to report that the House of Representatives has 102 parliamentary friendship groups, including one with Serbia. He agreed with the idea that Serbia is a future link in various areas between the European Union and Indonesia, taking the opportunity to invite the National Assembly’s Parliamentary Friendship Group of with Indonesia to the Inter-Parliamentary Union session to be held in Bali in March next year.
The officials also discussed the exchange of visits at the highest state level in the past few years, which had resulted in an intensification of cooperation. They agreed that both countries have huge potentials in the field of trade, tourism, education and culture, which should be utilised, and discussed the establishment of these types of cooperation at different levels. They also exchanged opinions on foreign direct investments in which Serbia is at the forefront in this part of Europe, and talked about Indonesia's successful vaccination campaign against the COVID-19 virus, covering over 95% of the population.
PFG Members Jadranka Jovanovic, Milanka Jevtic Vukojicic, Natasa Jovanovic, Vuk Mircetic and Viktor Jevtovic took part in the meeting, as well as members of the Indonesian delegation, members of the Committee for Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation: Fadli Zon, Putu Supadma Rudana, Achmad Hafisz Tohir, Hasbi Anshory and Hon.Mr. Muslim.
