Speaker of the National Assembly Speaks to Ursula Plassnik

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Dr Oliver Dulic, talked today to the Austrian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ursula Plassnik.

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Dr Oliver Dulic, talked today to the Austrian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ursula Plassnik.

Speaker Dulic briefed minister Plassnik on the situation in the country expressing his belief that a socially responsible government will soon be formed which will stabilise the political circumstances in Serbia and speedily lead it towards membership in the European Union.

“In that case, it is realistic to expect that by the end of this or the beginning of the next year Serbia will become an official candidate for EU membership and achieve full visa liberalisation. Ratification of the Stabilisation and Association Agreement with the EU soon after the constitution of the new parliamentary convocation is a precondition for everything”, Dulic said.

Minister Plassnik stated that Serbia has its place in the EU and it is only up to Serbia when it will take that place.

Austria supports the continuation of Serbia’s European integrations, because only that process can lead to the stability of the region and new direct foreign investments”, Plassnik stressed.
