The Chairman of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Predrag Markovic, today met with Dusan Stojicic, Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Srpska.

The Chairman of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Predrag Markovic, today met with Dusan Stojicic, Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Srpska.

This is the first meeting of the two heads of parliaments since Mr Markovic addressed members of the Parliament of the Republic of Srpska in November 2004, calling on them to set up a committee to deal with European integrations and regional co-operation, which the Parliament of the Republic of Srpska did as early as its following session.

Mr Stojicic is in Belgrade as part of a regional co-operation building programme organised by the European Movement in Serbia for parliamentary officials and non-governmental organisations from Albania and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Co-operation between the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia and the Parliament of the Republic of Srpska is permanent and carried on at all levels; taking their experiences to date as the starting point, the two heads of parliaments agreed to further improve their co-operation, through the appropriate Committees, in the future.
