Speaker Receives Indonesian and Russian Ambassadors

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic received the newly-appointed Ambassador of Indonesia to Belgrade H.



The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic received the newly-appointed Ambassador of Indonesia to Belgrade H.E. Semuel Samson.

The Speaker and the Ambassador agreed that parliamentary cooperation should be promoted as an incentive for the further development of bilateral relations between Serbia and Indonesia. The Speaker invited the Indonesian parliament speaker to visit Serbia this year and discuss all the modalities of cooperation between the two countries’ parliaments, from cultural to economic cooperation.

The officials agreed that the speedy commencement of dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina is of the utmost importance for Serbia as it would ensure a better quality of life for the people living in Kosovo-Metohija. The Speaker informed the Ambassador that Belgrade is ready for dialogue and believes that it would be best to launch it by addressing vital issues.

The NARS Speaker also met with the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Belgrade H.E. Alexander V. Konuzin who invited the NARS Speaker and members of the NARS Friendship Group with Russia to attend the traditional reception at the Russian Embassy in Belgrade in late February. The further steps in the cooperation between Russia and Serbia would be discussed at the gathering.

The officials agreed that it is important to improve cultural cooperation on the level of universities and as a model of good cooperation pointed out the cooperation between the University of Kragujevac and University of Smolensk.

The Ambassador informed the Speaker that a delegation of the State Duma would take part in the first international conference of parliamentary committees on constitutional issues, to be held in Belgrade from 16 to 19 February 2011.
