At the National Assembly House today, a three-member parliamentary delegation of South Korea, headed by Song Hoon-suk, vice-president of the Serbian-Korean Friendship Group, had separate meetings with the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee, Prof. Dr Dragoljub Micunovic, and deputy Nikola Lazic, member of the Serbian-Korean Friendship Group.

Before the meetings, the South Korean parliamentarians were welcomed by the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic.
Both sides believe that there is potential to strengthen parliamentary and overall bilateral relations between Serbia and South Korea and raise them to a higher level. The Serbian side emphasised the need to strengthen economic cooperation and further goods exchange with South Korea, primarily in the realm of Serbian export. Korean parliamentarians were made aware of the possibilities and advantages of investing in Serbia, primarily by leading Korean companies which are already present on the Serbian market, as well as in agriculture, infrastructure and other fields. Therefore, it was suggested that a Serbian business delegation present specific investment possibilities to Korean businessmen in Seoul as soon as possible.

The delegation head, Song Hoon-suk reminded the officials that 20 years had elapsed since the renewal of diplomatic relations between the two countries and that the Korean side is particularly interested in intensifying inter-parliamentary cooperation. He relayed the Korean Parliament’s gratitude for Serbia’s support on the international level.
Song Hoon-suk stressed that the Republic of Korea supports Serbia on its road to the European Union and in the matter of resolving the status of Kosovo peacefully, in accordance with international law.

Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Dragoljub Micunovic stressed that Serbia advocates a peaceful resolution of the conflict between North and South Korea and expressed his concern about the nuclear tests in North Korea.
On the behalf of the Serbian-Korean Friendship Group, deputy Nikola Lazic briefed the guests on the National Assembly’s intensive legislative work aimed at strengthening the rule of law and creating an ambience conducive to larger foreign investment in Serbia.

Micunovic and Lazic briefed the Korean parliamentarians on Serbia’s activities regarding the illegally declared Kosovo independence, aimed at preserving its territorial integrity.
