Serbian Delegation Takes Part in PACE January Session

The standing delegation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe is participating in the First Part of the 2025 Session, from 27 to 31 January this year.


The delegation is headed by Biljana Pantic Pilja, and includes Aleksandar Mirkovic, Dunja Simonovic Bratic, Elvira Kovacs and Vladimir Djordjevic.

The main issue at the session is the discussion on the possible challenge to the mandate of the new Georgian delegation, while other topics include the restoration of a law-based international order, an urgent end to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, the regulation of the work of mercenaries and private military and security companies in accordance with human rights and the rule of law, migration, the protection of the rights of the elderly, and the right to expression on social media.

The 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau camp will be commemorated during the session.

Yesterday, the deputies were addressed by Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Luxembourg, Xavier Bettel, and by the end of the session, the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Alain Berset, and the Prime Minister of Luxembourg, Luc Frieden, will address the deputies.

Before the session began, the Serbian delegation organised a formal reception attended by a number of members of other delegations. Also, on the sidelines of the session, a bilateral meeting was held with the new French delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.
