Serbia – Continuity and Memory

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic Dejanovic opened the exhibition “Serbia – Continuity and Memory” at the Archives of Serbia, to commemorate Statehood Day.


Djukic Dejanovic said that the Archives of Serbia, the host of the exhibition, was the biggest treasure trove and keeper of the memory and history of Serbia. “One of the oldest documents in the possession of the Archive is the 1330 Charter of Decani, as well as the sheet music to the Serbian national anthem, document from the Congress of Berlin, all testifying to a rich, true and real tradition”, said the National Assembly Speaker.

The Archives of Serbia organised the exhibition “Serbia – Continuity and Memory”, under the patronage of the Serbian Government, in celebration of Sretenje - Serbian Statehood Day. Among other things, the exhibition features the document signed by Patriarch Arsenije Carnojevic in 1697, documents from the First Serbian Uprising, the passport of Vuk Stefanovic Karadzic, protocol from the session of the St. Andrew’s Day Assembly in 1858, minutes of the sessions of the Council of Ministers.
