Serbia and China - Building Community for Shared Future in New Era

National Assembly Deputy Speaker Marina Ragus spoke with Vice Premier of the People's Republic of China Ding Xuexiang.

During the conversation, the officials underlined the good bilateral relations and the steely friendship between the two countries and peoples, which has withstood the trials and changes in the international situation. The dynamics and direction of cooperation are dictated by the frequent meetings and cordial relations between the two presidents, Aleksandar Vucic and Xi Jinping. They also underscored the importance of building a community for a common future in the new era as a new stage in the relations between the two countries. They expressed satisfaction with the additional increase in economic and trade exchange between the two countries after the Free Trade Agreement entered into force last year. Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang thanked the National Assembly Deputy Speaker for her contribution to the development of bilateral relations and the promotion of cooperation between the two countries, and emphasised that the Chinese side highly appreciates the efforts of Deputy Speaker Ragus.

The Serbian delegation was especially grateful for the support for the country’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, noting that Serbia will continue to support the one-China policy. "Following the meeting of the two presidents in Moscow on 9 May, and in light of the upcoming visit of President Aleksandar Vucic to China in early September, we can say that the relations between our two countries have entered a new, even higher-quality and more substantive phase of relations, which the two presidents will monitor during their regular annual meetings. It is up to all of us to give substance to these relations," Marina Ragus underlined.

The meeting was organised during the Second Belt and Road Conference on Science and Technology Exchange, held in Chengdu, Sichuan Province. The meeting was also attended by representatives of the Ministry of Science, Marija Gnjatovic, State Secretary, and Jovan Milic, Chief of the Minister's Cabinet, who are participating in the Conference.
