Second Sitting of the Security Services Control Committee

At the second sitting held on 26 July 2024, the Security Services Control Committee considered the Proposal of the Decision on the manner of holding a Security Services Control Committee sitting handling classified information and the Proposal of the Decision on the manner in which to conduct direct supervision over the work of the Security Services of the Republic of Serbia.

Committee Chairman MA Igor Becic said that the Committee considers materials submitted by the security services classified as confidential and the practice is that in each new National Assembly legislature, a decision is made on the manner of holding Security Services Control Committee sittings handling classified information and as a rule, these sittings are closed to the public. Also, the Proposal of the Decision on the manner in which to conduct direct supervision over the work of the Security Services of the Republic of Serbia represents good practice from previous periods and specifies the procedures for supervision carried out by the Committee.

Following a brief discussion, the members of the Committee unanimously accepted the decision proposals.

The Committee members also decided that, in accordance with Article 81, paragraph 4 of the National Assembly Rules of Procedure, all Committee sittings will be audio-recorded, the audio recordings will be processed and will form an integral part of the minutes of the sitting.

At the end of the sitting, the Committee Chairman informed the members of the Committee that the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska Security Committee expressed readiness for mutual cooperation with the Security Services Control Committee and in the coming period an exchange of visits of the members of these committees will be planned.

The sitting was chaired over by Committee Chairman MA Igor Becic, and attended by the following Committee members and deputy members: Dane Stanojcic, Tomislav Jankovic, Jasmina Obradovic, Goran Rakic, Edis Durgutovic, Aleksandar Ivanovic and Vladan Zagradjanin.
