Second Sitting of the Committee on the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region

At the sitting held on 19 September 2016, the members of the Committee on the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region reviewed the Committee’s Activity Plan.


Committee Chairman MA Ivan Kostic presented the Plan within which he analysed the state-of-play between the diaspora and the mother state, listed the objectives that needed to be achieved, and measures that should be implemented to improve cooperation of Serbs in the region and the diaspora with the mother state.

In the ensuing discussion the Committee members shared their own suggestions about the proposed Activity Plan which were immediately accepted and included in it. Following the constructive discussion the Committee members accepted the Activity Plan by majority vote.

The Committee then proceeded to accept the Information on the activities between the two Committee sittings.

Chairman Kostic informed the Committee members about the invitations the Committee on the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region had received and proposed a delegation to visit Ljubljana where the Founding Assembly of the National Council of Serbs in Slovenia is to be held, as well as a delegation for the visit to Pale – Republic of Srpska for the Third Regular Conference with the topic “Serbs in the region: status and perspectives.”

He also proposed holding a sitting on 6 October at the National Assembly’s Small Hall with the topic: protecting the culture of memory of Serbian victims of war and a public hearing on the holocaust and genocide against Serbs, Jews and the Roma.

The sitting was attended by the following Committee members and deputy members: Prof. Dr Marko Atlagic, Jadranka Jovanovic, Miodrag Linta, Zoran Milekic, Aleksandar Cotric, Goran Nikolic, Dr Ljubinko Rakonjac, Ljiljana Mihajlovic, Vladimir Djuric, Branimir Jovanovic, Dragan Veljkovic, Milorad Mircic, Marjana Maras and Miladin Sevarlic.

The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairman MA Ivan Kostic.
