SPEAKER DULIC MEETS PARLIAMENT SPEAKERS OF WEST BALKANS COUNTRIES

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Oliver Dulic, spent 27 and 28 September 2007 in Budapest, where he participated in the activities of the Third Conference of House Speakers of West Balkan Countries.

Speaking at the round table dedicated to European integration in the region, Oliver Dulic pointed out that Serbia is dedicated to the continuation of the reformation process, stating that the most complicated part in the process of European integration is aligning domestic laws with the European ones.

EU is an attractive environment for Serbia as for any other European country, giving the opportunity for development and creating a peaceful environment,.

“Our country possesses an individual and collective potential to adopt European values and standards. We will continue to work on achieving that goal as soon as possible”, Dulic said.

The Speaker of the National Assembly stated that Serbia intends to solve all open issues and disagreements with its neighbouring countries through a process of cooperation in the interest of both sides.

“Despite all the difficulties it went through in the previous two decades, Serbia believes in Europe, and it is my hope that Europe believes in Serbia”, he concluded.

At the conference margins, Speaker Oliver Dulic spoke with the parliament speakers of CEFTA countries as part of the regional initiative to give this agreement a parliamentary dimension.

During his stay in Budapest, the Speaker of the National Assembly also met with the representatives of the Self-government of Serbs in Hungary.
