SAPC Members Meet with Republic of Srpska Parliamentary Delegation

The members of the European Union-Serbia Stabilisation and Association Parliamentary Committee (SAPC) met at the National Assembly with the delegation of the Committee on European Integration and Regional Cooperation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska visiting Serbia.


SAPC Chair Dr Vladimir Orlic presented the Parliamentary Committee’s scope of activity, stressing its important role in the European integration process as its members are the first direct contacts for the European Parliament on behalf of the National Assembly.

“We contribute to everything concerning European integration in the National Assembly’s activities”, said Dr Vladimir Orlic. He added that of the 35 negotiation chapters, Serbia has opened 18 and is ready to open five more.

The Chairman of the Committee on European Integration and Regional Cooperation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska Igor Crnadak presented the committee’s scope and mode of operation stressing that is currently working toward intensifying cooperation with the committees with the same purview in Bosnia and Herzegovina to ensure the adoption of legislation harmonized with the EU acquis. He also presented the current political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and is prospects to gain the status of EU candidate country.

The officials agreed that it is essential to constantly communicate the importance of European integration to the citizens on and its influence on their lives.

The parliamentarians also spoke about the European Parliament facilitated Inter-Party Dialogue in the National Assembly and its results that have helped advance the election conditions in Serbia.

The meeting was also attended by SAPC members Dubravka Filipovski and Marijan Risticevic.
