The meeting, which was also attended by MPs Marija Obradovic and Vesna Rakonjac, chairpersons of the Defence and Internal Affairs Committee and the Committee on Labour, Social Issues, Social Inclusion and Poverty Reduction respectively, focused on exercising the right to disability pension and healthcare by citizens of the Republic of Srpska and the Republic of Serbia, i.e. exercising the right to pension by the citizens of the Republic of Srpska paid from the Republic of Serbia funds and vice versa.
The parliamentary deputy speakers urged to launch a political initiative to sign an agreement between the relevant ministries of the Republic of Srpska and the Republic of Serbia so as to secure adequate disability pension and healthcare for the citizens i.e. simplify the procedure and set up mechanisms to facilitate the exercise of the right to disability pension and healthcare.

National Assembly Deputy Speaker Veroljub Arsic briefed the guest on the course of today’s National Assembly sitting and the importance of project “Belgrade Waterfront” both for Belgrade and the economy of the entire Serbian state, expressing his firm belief that Serbia’s economic development would have a positive impact on the Republic of Srpska as well.

Defence and Internal Affairs Committee Chairperson Marija Obradovic briefed Deputy Speaker Stevandic on the cooperation of the Committee she chairs and the Security Services Control Committee with their counterparts at the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska, and the initiative for a joint meeting to define future cooperation within the existing Cooperation Agreement between the two parliaments. The chairpersons of the Defence and Internal Affairs Committee and the Committee on Labour, Social Issues, Social Inclusion and Poverty Reduction also presented the activities and initiatives of the Women’s Parliamentary Network.

Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska Dr Stevandic informed his colleagues on the revision and assessment of the “fraudulent” disability pensions in the Republic of Srpska, urging to exchange information with the Republic of Serbia and for cooperation between the relevant ministries on the principle of reciprocity, following the model used by the ministries in charge of construction as regards the licensing of construction companies which has proved its functionality in practice.
