Republic of Srpska European Integration and Regional Cooperation Committee Chairman Visits National Assembly

The Chairman of the European Integration and Regional Cooperation Committee of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska, Branislav Borenovic, visited the National Assembly and, in separate meetings, talked to European Integration Committee Chairman Aleksandar Senic and National Assembly Deputy Speaker Prof. Dr Vladimir Marinkovic.


In the course of the meetings, the officials discussed the European integration process, the two parliaments’ role and the importance of regional cooperation in the area.

European Integration Committee Chairman Aleksandar Senic presented the duties of the National Assembly and the European Integration Committee in the process of legislative harmonisation and EU membership talks.
Opining that Serbia is the Western Balkans leader as regards the European integration process, the Chairman of the European Integration and Regional Cooperation Committee Branislav Borenovic stressed that Bosnia and Herzegovina find Serbia’s experience in the field invaluable.
The officials underlined the importance of intensifying the cooperation between the two parliaments’ committees in charge of European integration, pointing out the potentials for interparliamentary cooperation between Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina regarding the use of EU pre-accession funds.

Speaking to the Chairman of the European Integration and Regional Cooperation Committee, National Assembly Deputy Speaker Prof. Dr Vladimir Marinkovic stressed that the National Assembly and Government’s priority is to harmonise the national legislation with the European, as well as pass reform laws to make the Serbian economy more competitive and create an environment conducive to investment. The officials agreed that Serbia’s economic progress would have a positive impact on the development of the entire Western Balkans region. Marinkovic and Borenovic also highlighted the importance of intensifying cooperation between the two parliaments and on the regional level.

In the course of his visit to the National Assembly, the Chairman of the European Integration and Regional Cooperation Committee of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska, Branislav Borenovic also met with the Chairman of the Committee on the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region, Dr Janko Veselinovic.
