Privatisation Committee Chairman Milan Nikolic talked today at the National Assembly to the representatives of the workers of “Kopaonik” from Kursumlija.

The representatives of the company’s workers and small shareholders briefed the Privatisation Committee Chairman on the difficulties they have been encountering since the privatisation. They stressed that the production process has been halted, that the new owner did not honour the contractual obligations, as well as that the property has been misappropriated. The workers went on general strike and requested urgent control and annulment of the sale contract from the Privatisation Agency.

The Privatisation Committee Chairman requested that the representatives of the Kopaonik workers and small shareholders submit documentation to the Committee so that it could request a report and opinion from the authorised institutions.

The Committee Chairman also talked to a group of entrepreneurs from Serbia engaged in litigation with company “Borelli”. Several entrepreneurs (physical and legal persons) had bought 16 buildings from “Borovo” company from Vukovar, paid the purchase price, and accompanying taxes and completed registration in the agreement with all relevant ministries in the Republic of Serbia. At present, none of the owners can enter the property because they are engaged in litigation over the ownership of the office space with the firm “Borelli” which is currently using it, under a Government ordnance.

The Privatisation Committee Chairman requested that complete documentation be submitted so that the Committee can request an opinion on this issue from the Ministry of Trade and other authorised organs...
