The exhibition was opened by National Assembly Speaker Maja Gojkovic and Algerian Ambassador to Serbia H.E. Abdelhamid Chebchoub, followed by an address by the author himself Stevan Labudovic.

National Assembly Speaker Maja Gojkovic thanked the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria for helping to, in cooperation with the Serbian Embassy, maintain the cemetery and keep the memory of the Serbian heroes and of this important segment of Serbian history, stressing that the relationship between the two countries has always been friendly.

“I would also like to stress that Mr Stevan Labudovic is one more tie between the two peoples. We can be proud of the man who personally took part in the Algerian revolution, was friend to the heroes of Algerian history and with his camera recorded the invaluable parts of Algerian history, preserving their memory. The time this exhibition evokes was marked by the courage and heroism of our ancestors who went through hell to protect their people and the idea of freedom”, said the National Assembly Speaker.

The Ambassador of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria H.E. Abdelhamid Chebchoub thanked the National Assembly Speaker for making it possible to organise the exhibition at the National Assembly House. He opined that by it the National Assembly opened a new page of history and on Armistice Day revived the memory of the brave freedom fighters. “This is also an opportunity to honour Stevan Labudovic whose camera stores human destinies, like it did by preserving the images of the graves in the Algerian land”, said Ambassador Chebchoub.
