Petitions and Proposals Committee Chairman Talks to Serbian Unity Congress Serbia Representatives

The Chairman of the Committee on Petitions and Proposals Sasa Dujovic received the representatives of the Serbian Unity Congress Serbia at the National Assembly today, with whom he spoke about the cooperation between the National Assembly and the civil sector.

Dujovic stressed that the Committee on Petitions and Proposals has invested considerable effort into building a civilized civic society in Serbia and is open to cooperation with all sectors. In addition, he said that the Committee aims to work in the interest of all the citizens which is evident from the 900 resolved civic petitions. He stated that the Committee had held a joint sitting with the Committee on Petitions and Proposals of the Assembly of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina to debate the privatisation of farmers’ cooperatives in Vojvodina, and that the Committee would organise a public hearing on the subject in the upcoming period. The Committee aims to analyse the facts of some of the privatisations and address the problems small shareholders come against when attempting to exercise their civil rights, added Dujovic.

The President of the Serbian Unity Congress Serbia Slavka Draskovic presented the work of the Congress, emphasising the importance of the forum held on the draft law on property restitution and compensation and stressed that the Congress enjoys good cooperation with the National Assembly’s Committee on Petitions and Proposals. Strengthening the relationship between the civil sector and state institutions should be something to work on in the upcoming period, concluded Draskovic.
