PFG Head Marijan Risticevic underlined the long-standing friendly relations between Serbia and Iran, hoping that they would continue to develop. He pointed out the two countries’ similar historical and political circumstances which have led to, he said, better understanding between the two people. Risticevic thanked the Iranian Ambassador for the assistance Iran sent to help those affected by the floods in Serbia.

The Iranian Ambassador hopes that the two countries’ parliamentary and overall bilateral relations will be furthered in the future. The Ambassador underlined Serbia’s significance as a factor of stability in the Western Balkans, at the same time emphasising Iran’s influence in the Middle East.

The officials agreed that the two countries’ economic cooperation shows potential for improvement, saying they stood ready to work toward its concretization.

They also discussed the possible reciprocal abolition of the visa regime which would facilitate the economic trade between the two countries.

They agreed that Serbia and Iran should also exchange parliamentary delegations soon.

PFG members Dragomir Karic and Marija Stevanovic, as well as MP Miodrag Nikolic took part in the meeting and suggested that Serbia and Iran foster cooperation in the fields of science, education, energy, agriculture and environmental matters.
