The meeting was part of the planned visit to the municipalities of Svilajnac and Despotovac organised in the Cuban Ambassador’s honour by the PFG with Cuba and the Director of Morava Thermal Power Plant Marija Stevanovic.

The Head of the PFG with Cuba Ljubisa Stojmirovic and the Cuban Ambassador agreed that, though the two countries enjoy a high level of bilateral relations they could be improved. Stojmirovic highlighted the importance of furthering parliamentary cooperation and the PFG’s intensive work toward it. Ljubisa Stojmirovic also underlined the importance of the visit to the municipalities of Svilajnac and Despotovac as it provides the Ambassador with the rare opportunity to see more of Serbia.

The Cuban Ambassador said that getting to know the interior of the country would help the further development of bilateral relations and enable the discovery of the hidden potentials for the further development of economic and cultural cooperation. She endorsed the cooperation initiative of Marija Stevanovic and commended the heroic fight of the workers of Morava Thermal Power Plant and their Director against the May floods.

Finally, the Cuban Ambassador and the PFG members emphasised the importance of intensive cooperation for the further development of parliamentary and bilateral relations.

PFG members Aleksandar Peranovic, Goran Vukadinovic and Zoran Antic and Morava Thermal Power Plant Director Marija Stevanovic also took part in the discussion.
