PFG with Spain in Two-Day Visit to Madrid

A delegation of the National Assembly’s Parliamentary Friendship Group with Spain, headed by Dunja Simonovic Bratic and including PFG members Milan Radin, Ana Miljanic, Jovan Palalic and Dr Muamer Bacevac, is in a two-day visit to Madrid at the invitation of the Vice President of the Spanish Senate, Javier Maroto.

During their stay in Madrid, the delegation had a meeting with the Vice President of the Senate, Javier Maroto, attended by many of the members of the Spanish Senate’s Foreign Affairs Committee.

Ion the course of the meeting, the officials affirmed the traditionally good and friendly relations between the two countries and two peoples, noting that next year marks 110 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Serbia and Spain.

They also confirmed the continued support for Serbia's EU membership, as well as Spain's principled support for the preservation of our country’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.

Opinions were exchanged on the current situation in terms of international relations and the global challenges facing the international community, once again confirming Serbia's and Spain's commitment to respecting and preserving the rules of international law.

The delegation also had the honour of attending the traditional Christmas reception hosted by the President of the Senate, where it was warmly welcomed during his address.

On the second day of the visit, the PFG delegation met with the Deputy Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Spanish Congress, Enrique Fernando Santiago Romero.

The officials noted the close and friendly relations between the two countries, as well as the common positions as regards respecting the rules of international law, and discussed many issues of mutual interest.

It was emphasised that Spain will continue to support Serbia on its path towards EU membership, and that it will consistently respect the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Republic of Serbia.

Our side thanked Spain its support us and reiterated Serbia's position that EU membership is our country's foreign policy priority.

Our delegation thanked the Spanish hosts for their hospitality and expressed satisfaction with Spain's participation in the upcoming specialised exhibition EXPO 2027 in Belgrade.
