The Committee on Legal Affairs and Human Rights of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe met today, 13 December, in Paris. Natasa Vuckovic and Zeljko Ivanji, members of the National Assembly’s Delegation, took part in the proceedings.

The Committee deliberated on the draft report and resolution on Involuntary Population Transfer as a Human Rights Violation, it considered the introductory memorandum of the report on Human Rights and Family Courts and discussed the prospective for forming a Sub-Committee on the Rule of Law.

Member of the Committee on Legal Affairs Natasa Vuckovic was selected by the Committee members to report on Promoting alternatives to prison sentences. At present, the Council of Europe member states suffer from overtaxed prison systems, which diminishes the influence of prison sentences on the rehabilitation process and fight against recidivism.
