Ninth Sitting of the European Integration Committee

At the sitting held on 13 December, the European Integration Committee considered the Bill amending and modifying the Criminal Code, in principle.

The Bill was elaborated by a representative of the Ministry of Justice and Public Administration.
The Committee members once again complained because the Government had proposed that the Bill be adopted by urgent procedure. They also asked whether the proposed amendments and modifications to the Criminal Code have been made in consultation with the European Commission since it had pointed out that some of the provisions of the Criminal Code in force did not comply with European legislation.
The representative of the competent ministry stressed that the amendments adapted the Code to the European regulations and recommendations, and that the European Commission had been consulted, but that he were not sure that agreement had been reached as regards the final version of the Bill.
The Committee members accepted the Bill amending and modifying the Criminal Code, in principle, by a majority of votes.
The sitting was chaired by the Committee Chairperson, Milica Delevic.
