National Assembly to improve co-operation with Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly

On Friday 9 December 2005, the Secretary of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Marko Danilovic, took part in a working meeting held with officials of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) in Strasbourg, France.


On Friday 9 December 2005, the Secretary of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Marko Danilovic, took part in a working meeting held with officials of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) in Strasbourg, France. The meeting was devoted to the future PACE Assistance and Support Programme to the Parliaments of the Republic of Serbia, Republic of Montenegro, and the State Union of Serbia and Montenegro.
The Programme, intended to last 22 months, will be implemented with the support of the European Agency for Reconstruction, and is to involve English language courses for MPs and support personnel, conferences and roundtables with the participation of CoE experts, providing expert analyses of draft laws and assessing their degree of harmonisation with European law, as well as study visits by deputies and other Assembly personnel to the European Parliament, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and parliaments of EU member states.

Mr Danilovic also met the Secretary General of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Bruno Haller, and discussed modes of improving co-operation between the Serbian Assembly and PACE.
