National Assembly Standing Delegation to PACE at June Session in Strasbourg

The National Assembly’s standing delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, headed by the delegation Head Aleksandra Djurovic, will be participating in the third part of the PACE plenary session in Strasbourg, from 23 to 27 June 2014.


The session will be discussing violence in and through the media, migrants, reforms of the Parliamentary Assembly, democracy in Europe, public administration, rights of the child and independence of the European Court of Human Rights, and will also be commemorating the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of World War One.

The MPs will also be electing the new Council of Europe Secretary General, with the current Secretary General Thorbjørn Jagland and former German Minister of Justice Sabine Leutheusser-Schnarrenberger standing for the election.

The Parliamentary Assembly will also be addressed by the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, and traditionally on the behalf of the Council of Europe Committee of Ministers, by its current Chair Elmar Mammadyarov, Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan, who will be presenting the Committee of Ministers’ activity plan and answering the MPs’ questions.

Former Head and member of the National Assembly’s standing delegation to PACE Milos Aligrudic will receive, at a special ceremony, a medal and honorary diploma for years of committed participation in the organisation’s activities. PACE President Anne Brasseur will be presenting the awards.

In addition to the Head of the delegation Aleksandra Djurovic, the National Assembly’s delegation will be comprising delegation members Marija Obradovic, Aleksandar Jovicic, Elvira Kovacs, Zarko Obradovic, Natasa Vuckovic and Aleksandar Senic.
